Top 10 Tips to Get Glowing Skin Ready for your Wedding Day!

I honestly think these are things we should always do, whether you have an important event coming up or not. We should always take good care of our skin. So here are my tips on how to prep your skin:

1) Drink water.

I can’t emphasize this enough. Hydration comes from within. You can buy the most expensive moisturizer or hydrating creme and you will just be wasting your money if you are not drinking enough water. When your body is dehydrated it absorbs anything you put on your skin, immediately, because your body is so thirsty. The problem is it will never be enough to compensate for, so it stays on the top layers of your skin reflecting hydration. If you drink enough water, your moisturizer will definitely do its job.


2) Add lemon to your water.

Drink a glass of warm or room temperature water with lemon. This works as a detoxifier. It’s also so amazing for your immune system. It balances your PH, which is what keeps us away from getting sick.

3) Always and I mean ALWAYS remove your makeup and cleanse your face before going to bed.

You need to let your skin breathe and get rid of any pollution, dirt and makeup that might accumulate and create bacteria which will then become acne.

Even if you don’t wear makeup, you need to wash your face before going to bed. You’ll be surprised how dirty the skin can get just from being outdoors.


4) Use sunscreen.

We obviously need vitamin D. The sun is. It is our enemy, but it is important to protect your skin from too much sun. Just make sure to use sunscreens that have no nasty ingredients in them. If they have too many chemicals, then those chemicals will actually get “burned” into your skin which is very dangerous. A brand that I really love is Badger Balm which you can find in some pharmacies in Dubai or on iherb online.


5) Stay away from sugars.

Sugar attaches to proteins and creates harmful molecules that damage collagen and elastin in your skin, these protein fibers keep your skin firm and youthful. So, I would skip dessert.


6) Microdermabrasion.

Couldn’t have said this better:

7) Using Tools.

Use facial tools like a Gua Sha or a Jade roller. Massaging your skin to stimulate blood circulation and your lymphatic system, makes your skin look alive, tighter and glowing. Doing this regularly also helps prevent wrinkles.


8) Oils.

Don’t be scared of using 100% natural oils.  Two of my favorites are Argan oil and Rosehip oil. I know many people hear the word oil and want to run the other way but trust me using the right oil for your skin works wonders. It doesn’t matter if you have oily, combination, normal or dry skin. The oil works as an adaptogen, which means it increases natural oil production on the skin where it’s dry and reduces oil production where its oily.


9) Moisturizers.

Make sure you are using the correct moisturizer for your skin type. Some people confuse having an oily t-zone with having all over oily skin, for example. So they use a moisturizer for oily skin and what happens is they end up drying the areas on the face that actually had the right amount of hydration. And believe me, you don’t want dry skin. Dry skin ages faster. In this case, you would need a moisturizer for combination skin.


10) Face masks.

Using a face mask at least once a week is a game changer. I would recommend using the most natural ones you can find. Two of my favorites are Green Clay masks to detoxify and Honey masks to moisturize and prevent hyperpigmentation. Make sure not to try any new products or treatments if your wedding date is a month away or earlier. You don’t want to risk any allergic reactions and not have time for your skin to heal.
